Sister Bradley-Humor in the Mission Field

In my first area on the mission, some other missionaries contacted a
woman and her adult son and then passed us their information. They
told us that the son's name was Fred but that he had a lisp and
pronounced it Fwed. We were speaking a different language, and didn't
think another thing about it. He would always introduce himself to
others as Fwed, and we believed the entire time that his name was
actually Fred. Then one day we went to go teach Fred and his Mom, and
Fred kept correcting us when he called him Fred. He kept saying "No,
it's Fwed" "Yes, Fred" "No, FOUED. It's spelled F-O-U-E-D." Holy Moly,
his name was actually Foued and we had been calling him Fred the
entire time! We were completely mortified. Luckily he was very
good-natured and forgave us. :)
