Q: "How does my sister missionary fit everything into one carry-on?"
With a little strategy, 24 well-chosen pieces mix into 414 different outfits — and they all fit in a single carry-on. Here's the method we teach:
Build around basics. Take about 8–10 bottoms, 8–10 tops, and 1–2 dresses — mostly solids with a couple of prints, so each skirt pairs with at least three tops. Add 2–3 blazers or cardigans for cooler weather and jacket-required functions.
Pack in "bundles," not folds. Lay your longest pieces in first with the hems draped over the edges, then layer the next pieces the opposite direction, alternating. Put shoes and small items in the center, then fold all those tails back in one at a time, smoothing as you go. Bundling keeps everything tightly packed and nearly wrinkle-free.
Don't forget the layers. Underpinnings (camis, layering tees, slips, leggings) and enough hosiery to rotate daily — both are hard to find in the field, so bring what you need.
Tip: A belt or scarf stretches a few pieces into many more outfits — without adding weight.
