How Many Pairs of Shoes — and How to Make Them Last

Q: "How many pairs of shoes does my missionary need — and how do I make them last?"

Shoes are the #1 topic in the missionary-mom groups for good reason — they take the most abuse:

Bring two pairs. Rotate them day to day so each dries out fully — it roughly doubles their lifespan, and you always have a backup.

Break them in first. Never fly on brand-new shoes. Wear them for a few weeks so the blisters happen at home, not in the field.

Condition and protect. A little leather conditioner and waterproofing goes a long way, and re-soleable leather shoes can be repaired instead of replaced.
